Hydraulic Pump
Here is a screen capture of a portable hydraulic power pump that is still in production and which harks back to the beginning of my professional career as a board-trained draftsman.
A reciprocating piston pump depends into the reservoir and is supercharged by a four-vane rotor. It is powered by a FHP universal motor. The pump delivers hydraulic fluid at 26 cubic inches per minute, at 14,500 PSI and is controlled by a grounded and insulated pendant switch.
Ventilating air is drawn in beneath the rain cover that protects the end bell and brush holders, and is exhausted through the annular arrangement of outlet ports. The cast aluminum reservoir embodies a visual sight gauge, and a finely filtered vent plug.
The pump has seen service in electrical construction, but also in many other situations in which portable, high pressure hydraulic power is required.
