Wheelchair.
I was engaged by A/R Technology to assist in analyzing this unique wheelchair design for manufacturability and ADA compliance.
The frame and related parts are constructed of anodized 6061-T6 aluminum and the chair features a unique “X” beneath the rider’s seat. The “X” is oriented horizontally, unlike conventional chairs whose mechanism for adjusting seat width is vertically oriented. The chair’s width can be varied without altering height, thus maintaining the spatial relationships between the rider’s torso, legs and feet.
This image shows the finished assembly, rendered in AutoCAD.
It is worth mentioning that all of the components of the virtual model shown in this graphic were created in an older version of AutoCAD, using classic Boolean operators to generate the virtual models.
